Winter Robin

We spotted this robin during the Christmas Bird Count last Saturday. This is my Solstice/Hannukah/Christmas photo for 2011: warmest wishes to everyone, and thanks for reading Penelopedia.

Merry Christmas to all! The robin looks cold. I hope he/she heads south soon. I thought they all did, or do some stay behind and survive?

The robin looks cold. I thought they all went "south" for the winter. Or is this one testing out the global warming theory?

Thanks for the holiday wishes; same to you! Yes, though we usually think of robins as birds that go south for the winter, they will sometimes stay, often in large flocks, if food is available and snow cover not too heavy. We've had a very mild December and not much snow so far this winter.
